We're glad you're ready to teach your student or child about the dangers of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs and how to prevent use. This site will help you guide your learner. Before you start on the lessons, you may want to know about the following:

HOW TO HELP YOUR STUDENT GET STARTED

How the interactive PALS curriculum is structured:

The curriculum offers six sets of lessons. Each set includes learning activities about tobacco, alcohol, other drugs and related issues. Students complete the curriculum by listening to or reading content, answering multiple choice questions to test their knowledge or participating in an alternative activity that best meets their learning style and ability.

Each of the following six lessons for students come with easy instructions for teachers and parents. Additional resources or suggestions for going more in-depth on any lesson topic are included in the instruction guide.

  • Lesson 1: I want to learn about the dangers of alcohol
  • Lesson 2: I want to learn about the dangers of tobacco
  • Lesson 3: I want to learn more about other drugs, besides alcohol and tobacco
  • Lesson 4: I want to learn about the differences among students
  • Lesson 5: I want to learn about what it takes to be healthy
  • Lesson 6: I want to learn about peer pressure and how to deal with it

      Helpful Hints:
      1. Be sure students complete all activities for each of the lessons before they move on to the next, including the quiz at the end of each lesson!
      2. Ask students to keep track of their own progress and encourage them to pass the quiz at the end of each lesson with a 100 percent!
      3. Once the student completed the entire set, you may want to give them a signed certificate for completing the course.
